I am blatantly stealing this idea from Jennie, who does it every year. (And every year I think, Oh! I should do that!, and then don’t.) When I was writing it at first, I didn’t want to stop at 32 — because, really. What kind of list ends at 32? Then I remembered that I’ll be 31 this year, so 31 things plus a bonus one works for me, and, more importantly, it’s my list so I can end it at any number I’d like.
Anyhow. In 2013, I will:
- Buy a car (I still haven’t decided on one. I know.)
- Rework and formalize our family budget
- Run the Expedition Everest Challenge as a team with Jeff without wanting to kill each other at the end (May)
- Run the Tower of Terror 10-miler — or whatever they call it this year (October-ish)
- Go on a one-month shopping fast
- Take family photos
- Find a good local babysitter
- Spend a fun weekend in Charleston at The Blathering (you should come too!)
- Make a trip to Oklahoma
- Take Henry to a football game
- Take Henry to a hockey game (not necessarily an NHL game. Stupid Bettman.)
- Lose the 15 pounds of baby weight that’s still hanging around
- Clean out and organize my closet and only keep clothes I truly love (This may take…a while.)
- Go to daily Mass for a month
- Make a book out of the daily Henry pictures I’ve been taking
- Actively seek out at least 4 new freelance instructional design clients
- Stick to our weekly menu plans
- Find new house wines to keep stocked.
- Send a card/letter to a friend every month
- Redesign my professional site
- Use my big girl camera at least once a week
- Go to the dentist (God, I hate the dentist. HATE. And I have been avoiding it for far too long.)
- Celebrate our second wedding anniversary
- See at least one Old 97s show
- Throw Jeff a great 35th birthday party
- Throw Henry a great 1st birthday party
- Read 24 books (I know, most people go for 100! Or another spectacular number! I am going for easily achievable.)
- Write here at least twice a month
- Renew my SHRM certification or (and?) begin working towards my CPLP
- Host a family holiday dinner
- Try one new exercise class every month — CrossFit, Zumba, Jazzercise, whatever. Just something new.
- Strive to be content — enjoy what we have and where we are in our lives now instead of looking toward the future.

If you like red, I suggest Cellar 8 red table wine. It’s CHEAP ($8 ish) and really good. It’s my house wine of choice.
And I would love to run the house of terror …maybe I’ll sign up and we could do it together? Of course I desperately need to start running again.
Oh, that would be fun! I haven’t run it since it was the 13K (and I only did that in 2008), but I heard lots of good things about last year – and have heard that they’re also making some good changes for this year, too (better course, more on-course entertainment).
I love your list! I also strive for around the same number of books and it always feels like a BIG, IMPOSSIBLE number and it’s like a fraction of everyone else’s number. So, high-five to us!
We’re considering the Old 97′s show in St. Pete in early February. I just don’t know if we’ll be able to swing the time off …
I think that’s what we’re planning on, since I can easily get my sister to babysit. And because Orlando is on a Sunday, which…no. Sunday night just does not work.
