I started blogging in…2000? 2001? Back when it was called online journaling and it was a weird hobby for weirdos. Somewhere, there are pictures of barely 21-year-old me at Journalcon in Austin, and barely 22-year-old me at Journalcon in DC. It’s probably for the best those aren’t easily accessible, and thank goodness those archives only reside on my hard drive.
(You’re curious as to what they were, I know. Let me save you the trouble: I’m in college! My sorority keeps me really busy! I have a paper and don’t want to write it! I got druuuuuuuunk last night!)
I kept blogging on and off until 2005-ish, when my domain (this very one) got swiped out from under me. Since I wasn’t updating much (which is to say at all) after moving to Florida, I just let it go.
After toying with the idea of starting the whole blog thing up again for a while, finding out that I could swipe my domain back from the (surely legitimate) company that took it in the first place was the last little push I needed, so here we are.
There’s a lot of fuss now about finding your niche as a blogger — are you a healthy living blog? a mommyblog? Gwyneth Paltrow? a fashion blogger? DIY? I don’t really know what pre-defined space I inhabit (I’m guessing none of them), but this is a slice of my life & how I live. Pigeonhole me as you will.
